Telecoms Regulatory Strategy

The telecoms sector is subject to high levels of regulation, which can impose significant costs on the business. As the industry evolves so must the regulatory regime and operators can seek to shape the future regulatory environment in their favour through the process of lobbying and consultation.

Developing regulatory strategy and achieving success in consultations requires an in depth understanding of all aspects of the telecoms market from customers to technology as well as telecoms policy. Coleago works on behalf of operators and regulators and is therefore familiar with both sides of the argument.  Stefan Zehle, Coleago’s CEO, was the Director of Strategy & Regulatory Affairs for a new mobile operator in Algeria and successfully lobbied the regulator to approve best practice interconnect agreements and RIOs and obtained asymmetrical mobile termination rates.
